Hi Mary and this message is also for Kathy Jillson Serre, I have absolutely no idea how Gordon Jillson was connected to Cynthia Goodrich Carrol or Carroll. I tried to find her in a census and all I can find is a woman named Cynthia married to a Thomas Carroll living at town of Western or Westernville- any chance her maiden name was Goodrich? In 1910 she is at Utica- her name was recorded as Cynthia G. Carroll.
I do not have a marriage record or date either for Gordon Jillson and Caroline Cady and for the life of me have no idea where I even got the info in first place that Caroline married Gordon Jillson but suspect I have a Jillson, Ballou, Comstock or Cady file buried somewhere with that info in it. The only couple of people I can think of who would have given me this info (many years ago now) would be another gal I worked with on Cady families, she lives in Oneida County... and Dan Touse with whom I worked on many town of Western families.
Too bad you didn't have access to actual birth records or death records in Oneida County- it would be revealing to see the birth and/or death record for Beatrice Jillson.
Are you 100% sure that the initials were C. G. Jillson...? Caroline Cady Jillson's initials would be of course C. C. Jillson however she may have had a middle given name that started with G. as well. Just trying to cover all possibilities.
Worst case scenario....is that Gordon had an affair with Cynthia and they had a child together. If this was the case, whoever is recording that Gordon and Cynthia were "married" may be trying to be polite about the whole thing. In any case, something did happen between Caroline and Gordon to cause them to split. They were together in 1900, by 1910, Gordon is living with his father and listed as a "widower" and Caroline is living with her married daughter Grace, wife of Alpha (Alpheus?) CROPSEY.
I do not have a date of death for Caroline, have no idea if she ever re-married, don't know where she is buried. I can't yet find daughter Grace in 1920 to see if Caroline still with her. Will take another look and will see if I can find Caroline in town of Western cem's, but my searching is limited to what is online.
One of two things- she either re-married before she died and so is buried under another name or she could have been buried where her parents are.
Here is all the census info I accumulated for Gordon and caroline in 1900-1910. Have added the woman I think is Cynthia G. Carroll. If you ever find more info about these people, please let me know.
Thanks from Nora
