Re: JIMMO TREE
Hello Debra - I am doing the family trees for both the Conroy and Jimmo members of my family. My sister-in-law is Bernice Althea Jimmo born in Escuminac, New Brunswick, Canada, 15 January 1928. She was the 11th and youngest child of James Jimmo and Marguerite Russell.James himself was the oldest of 11 children born to Louis Jimmo and Johanna Carroll.James was born in Escuminac on 12 December 1879 and died 10 May 1965 in Escuminac. His wife Marguerite was born in Chatham, New Brunswick, 22 July 1891 and died 30 December 1953 in Escuminac.Marguerite's parents were Francis Russell and Catherine Martin, but I have no record of their dates of birth/death.I don't know if Marguerite had any siblings. I have the names of all 11 children of Louis and Johanna, and all 11 of James and Marguerite's children and their offspring. What intrigues me the most is the origin of the name Jimmo. It could be a derivitive of the French word "Jumeau"(twin)? I'm guesssing this because the "eau" word ending in French is sounded as the English letter "o" and the spelling often got anglicized over time.Let me know if any of this is of any relevance to you.
