The Trinity Church was/is in Manhattan (Trinity has been built/rebuilt three times), Last month Trinity had a register of people buried in the cemeteries, this month not so. The site has been changed so I don't know where to find the information at this time.
Just a hunch here. The Trinity Church had a co-ed school in the 1700s called the Mercy Academy/School. Trinity also supported King's College, now Columbia University. There were several "Johnson" names listed in the cemetery. One of the teachers was Samuel Johnson. His wife's name was Mercy. Somewhere online I saw a site listing residences in Manhattan in the 1700s. There was a Johnson that lived between Broad and Exchange (?) Streets. The Trinity Church was near Broad Street.Could it be that Moses and Elinor attended the Academy placing them in NY but were born in VA and AL?
