Harriet Johnson was born about 1799 in Johnston County, NC, the daughter of Drury Johnson (ca. 1775-1852) of Johnston County, NC and his wife Frances "Fanny" Jones (ca. 1775/80-bet. 1820/22).Drury Johnson was the son of Henry Johnson (ca. 1730/40-1807; 1md. ___ West) of Johnston County, NC.Frances "Fanny" Jones was the daughter of William Jones (ca. 1730/40-1796; md. Martha Penny) of Wake County, NC.

Harriet Johnson married Ethelbert "Birty" Finch on February 9, 1814 in Johnston County, NC. Birty Finch died in Wake County, NC prior to May Term of Court, 1823, when Harriet Finch made petition for support. Allotment was made for her on June 10, 1823 [Wake County, NC Original Estate Records, NC State Archives]. Harriet (Johnson) Finch married secondly October 26, 1830 in Wake County, NC, William Atkins[on].Harriet received 30 acres from her father's lands on February 5, 1854 [Johnston County, NC Land Division Book 2, 1850-1883, p. 56]. Harriet Atkinson may have been deceased by February 1, 1856, when J. T. Leach sold Drury Johnson, Jr. her allotted share (Proven February, 1856) [Johnston County, NC Deed Book Y-2, p. 29].
