Thank you Sherry!I would be interested in more information about both Michael Johnston and Mary Hancock - dates of birth/death/marriage and antecedents if you have them.
My source says Robert and Charles were "of Scotch descent and are understood to have come to Hampstead, and thence to Coos (the old name for the country round about Newbury VT and Haverhill NH), with Haverhill Mass. their native place."Their brother Michael was '"sent up" to Newbury in 1761, "with cattle to be wintered" and when his friends who sent him returned, "he was drowned at the upper end of Olcott's Falls."Michael, Charles and Robert all served in the French and Indian wars.Robert was also a Minute Man and in and out of the Revolutionary army; he was at Saratoga.Robert's daughter Ruth married a William Tice; one of their daughters married Joshua Bayley, who was my 3d ggrandfather.
