Jerry Jay Jolly 1936 - 2007
Jerry Jay Jolly, 71, of Bayfield, Wis., (formerly of Ill.), passed away on Dec. 15, 2007, in Bayfield, Wis. He was born Feb. 2, 1936, in Geneva, Ill.
Jerry was a Plumber, Instructor and President of Plumbers Local 93 for many years. He also served on the Executive Board and was a Trustee for the Health and Welfare Fund. Jerry was a longtime resident of Lake County, Ill., and retired to Bayfield, Wis. In his early years he was a member of the North Chicago Golden Glove Squad. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, beekeeping, gardening and cycling. Most recently he was able to fulfill his dream of preserving the land he loved by donating a parcel of land to the County of Bayfield, now known as the Jerry Jay Jolly Pike’s Creek Trail.
He is survived by his five daughters, Denise (Rick) Fleishman of Russell, Wis., Suzanne (Steven) Keller of Pleasant Prairie, Jackie Kelly of Kenosha, Melanie (Gregory) Hamalainen of Somers, and Janice Jolly of Kenosha; one son, Kyle Jolly of Kenosha; 15 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and two brothers, Keith Jolly of Fla., and Tim Jolly of Gurnee, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Faye Wright Jolly and Helen Laura (Ankley) Jolly; and twin brother, Jordon James Jolly.
Friends may call at the Salata-Gurnee Funeral Home, 4190 Old Grand Ave, Gurnee, IL from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial service in Bayfield, Wis., is being planned for a later date.
