Re: Jordans of Elbert & Hart Counties
The James G. Jordan that married Rebecca Manley, did not marry her in 1862. According to Georgia records on Ancestry.com they were married Aug. 19, 1837 in Franklin Co., GA.So, the James G. Jordan on the 1850 census, age 12 living with Dennis Philips, age 59 and Polly Philips age 56 is a different James G. Jordan than the one who married Rebecca Manley in 1837.So the Linda Jordan in our Cheek Family Bible couldn't have been this James G. Jordan (b. 1838)'s mother.
Charles Woodson Cheek's 1/2 brothers whose name appear in the Cheek family Bible were Burgess Cheek and William Cheek Jr. and Ellis Cheek (also his full brother Major Lewis Cheek). Also in this Cheek family Bible was the name of a Samuel B. Jordan b. 6/7/1824.Perhaps someone may know who this Samuel B. Jordan was, that may lead us to who the Linda Jordan was.
