Re: NJ -Irish Jordans
I am an EnglishJordan, whose ancestors were stonemasons from Ireland who settled in Somerset (SW England) sometime before 1870. Am trying to work back to precisely who came over, when & where in Ireland they came from. Have also researched Irish Families (MacLysaght) & Irish Family Names (de Breffny), and established that Jordan d'Exeter (one of the Normans who accompanied Henry 2nd during his invasion of Ireland in 1172 - between the 2nd & 3rd Crusades) was granted extensive lands in Connacht - specifically what is now Co. Mayo. Would be interested in getting hold of O'Hart's book as well as any further info on the property-owning Jordans in Galway & Mayo during 1800's -any ideas?
