Jorns family in St. Louis

By Jeannie Rabbitt April 10, 2004 at 10:43:21

Hello - I'm searchng for any information on the below family.Family history indicates that August and Marie/Mary met in New Orleans, married there, and traveled by steamboat up the Mississippi to St. Louis, fell in love with the City and decided to stay there. However, August didn't live very long, and Marie/Mary was forced to send her children to an orphanage. However, by 1882, she remarried to Adam Wertich, and they removed the children and finished raising them.

I cannot prove any piece of this story and have been trying to do so for at least 4 years. This family does show up on the 1900 census, or at least Marie/Mary does.I do have a marriage license of one of the daughters, Agnes L., marrying to Patrick Downey, but cannot locate any more info on their family as well.

Does this look familier to anyone?
