My great-grandfather, Samuel Strout (son of the Rev. Nathaniel Strout) of Raymond, ME, married Maria Frances Jose in August 1850.

In 1858, he was living in Philadelphia, PA, with his second wife, Elizabeth (Watson) Cowl.

Did his marriage to Maria Frances Jose end in divorce or her death?
