Sorry but I do not know of any Jose's in Cornwall prior to 1537.However I did read somewhere that the name dates back to before the Roman invasion of Britain.

In addition I think you will find that there is a Cornwall Family History Society at 5 Victoria Square, Truro, Cornwall TR1 2RS.But I haven't checked for a while.
The name Jose is to be found all over Cornwall.
