Lynne,
Hi, my name is Richard Joyce. My father's parents were William Joyce and Mary Flynn. Both came to this country aorund the turn of the last century (William 1893, Mary 1904). They both came from large families. My grandmother and all her sisters came to this country in order they were Mary (also called Sis), Catherine, Nelly (Ellen),Anne,Bea, and Winnie. Anne married one of my grandfather's brothers-Stephen. Yes I have counsins related to me from both the Joyce and Flynn sides. I just found it interesting that there was another Joyce who me and married antohter Flynn (or visa versa). Nellie Flynn was married to a NYPD Lieutenant named Jim Mc Dade (aka Big Jim Mc Dade). They lived in Brooklyn. Had two sons that I know of John (Jack)who eventually became a priest of the Diocese of Brooklyn and Robert (Bob) an attorney who eventually settled out in Dayton, Ohio. I would love to hear from you. I was able to get info. from the Ellis Island archives on my grandmother Flynn; year she arrived in, date and ship she arrived on and where originally lived in Manhattan. Have a great day.
