Re: Thomas Joyce & Nora Flynn - Brooklyn NY
I can hear the theme music from the twilight zone as I sit here at our computer typing away. This is definitely getting weirder and weirder by the day. Downright scary in fact.
Might as well cover my mother's side of the family. That's where the Rushes come in. My maternal grandmother was a Margaret Rush. How's that for coincidences. My grandmother always said that her father said he came from Galway (raved how great the fishing was there, especially in the lakes and rivers-let alone the fishing industry from the sea). My father always said his father and uncle said the same thing.
Getting back to my mother and her family. My mother was born and raised on Staten Island, as was her mother. Her father though had come down from the Boston area prior to World War I. To work in the construction trades in Manhatten. He was a steam fitter. His name was George Bower. His family was of German descent- original spelling of family name was Bauer. Family legend has it, they changed the spelling sometime after coming to this country. Possibly around the time of the first world war. In fact my grandfather served in the Army (combat engineers) in France, during World War I. He was injured - shot through the leg - awarded the Purple Heart, as well as the Silver Star nad the combat infantrymans badge.
Enough about them for now. I have a meeting to go to tonight. Our email address is [email protected] My email at work is [email protected]
I think sometime, in the near future, we've got to get together (with our spouses) and talk. I just can't believe.......
