There are Kapasi's from everywhere. The Hungarian Kapasi of whom I am one travelled through Morocco and Egypt more than 500years ago as Europe flexed its muscles. The Indian Kapasi's largely took on the surname as the cotton industry established itself in India. Kapas in Gujarati was the word for cotton cloth and as it is with Indian cultural traditions, the 'cotton people' soon adopted the surname KAPASI
