Thanks so much for your efforts on my behalf. I would (& still:>) have no idea where to begin !!! I would indeed bet Ferdinand was Bohemian: I've had the 'Gypsy blood' since I was a child and have always lived what is called in the US a 'bohemian lifestyle' and left my family at an early age to do so. All I have to 'confirm' that he was Slovak was word-of-mouth, and I was young at the time. Also, as I previously mentioned, questions I posed were answered with vague responses - I deduce that there are 'skeletons in the closet' that were not deemed fit to share with anyone, most especially a child/young teenager who was interested in possible family in CZ.
Regarding the Slovak Garden, I am & have been aware of it since i was a kid. None of my family was ever there, though.
No other relatives came to this country - that is one of the big difficulties on my quest. No other Ligac in the entire USA - - a search of the International White Pages/America/USA would seem to confirm this - my mother, sister, and I are the only ones that display - although there may be someone somewhere that is not listed. I've never heard of any relatives in the US, only in 'the old country' and never any detail --> again; skeletons in the closet is the sense that I get.
Once again, thanks for your help with this; and if I understand correctly, Martin Ligac is your cousin ??? If he & I are indeed related, you and I would seem to be of some relation too, even if somwhat distant.
If you can give me any further direction I will be most grateful. I'm most confident that I do indeed have relatives in 'the old country' and I'd like to get in touch with them if possible.
With sincere thanks,
Steven Joseph Ligac
