Another Fred Kasbohm Re: Frank Kasbohm
I also have a Fred Kasbohm. He was born in Mecklenburg, Germany about 1851 and died in Rochester, NY in 1941. There may have been a Germaine Kasbohm in Rochester, too. Today I ordered a Y chromosome and mt DNA test for a Kasbohm man from another upstate NY family that our family tradition says is related. We don't know how, but members of my family remember that one of Fred's daughters attended family reunions held by the other family. That family has traced their line to the village of Sülten in Mecklenburg with the help of a professional genealogist in Germany.
I have opened a Kasbohm DNA Project at Family Tree DNA to help Kasbohm researchers work together to utilize information obtained through DNA testing along with information obtained from other sources and to make it easier for Kasbohm researchers to qualify for a project discount when they order tests for family members. I invite other Kasbohm researchers to contact me and to consider enrolling Kasbohm males in this brand new project. I suggest that anyone interested consider acting quickly to take advantage of the current promotional offer for 37 marker testing and a basic mitochondrial DNA test. That offer is set to expire in about 9 days.
