Thank You again Barb for the wealth of info you have. The family name I am researching was orig. spelled Kaufmann and they claim to have come from the area of Flouorn, Aichalden, and areas near the Black Forest and Rhine River. The first names of John (Johann), George (Jurg/Georg), Andrew, Martin, Christopher, Stephan(Stephen) etc. seem to be the common first names within the family tree. They were all Lutheran's. Our line came in 1752 so anything prior to that would be back in Germany somewhere in the Wurttemberg area. I only wish we could find the exact location. All we know is that our immigrant ancestor came as an indentured servant in 1752, however his brother Johann came with his wife Elizabeth and their children in/around 1756 and were able to pay their passage over. We do have one solid ydna matching person who also spells their last name the same as I noted above and their family too was from Wurttemberg. This was so great to have a dna match to another family of the same name from the same province in Germany who were also of a Lutheran family. Thank you again for your great info.
