I am attempting to put together a family tree of my mothers family. There have been many different spellings of the same family last name depending where in the US they settled. The info I have is: my mother, Kathryn (Cathrine) KOSLOVICH, bn. 1924 in Ontonagon, Michigan; had sisters Julia, Donica, Matilda and brother Paul (KAUZLARICH)all born in Ontonagon and one brother Marion (Marijan KAUZLARIC)born in Mrkopalj. Grandfather, Mate KAUZLARIC, bn.1881 in Mrkopalj, came to Michigan in 1910 or 1911 with his brother, Steve (Stepan). This is where we see the name changed to Matthew KOZLOVICH. Mate had been married in Mrkopalj in 1909 to Milka POLIC and their son, Marijan was born in 1910. Milka and Marijan came to Michigan in 1921. From the various rough notes and sketchy details I have: Mate's parents were Mate KAUZLARIC and Rosalie(Rozalija) CUCULIC and they posibly had six children, Barbara, Ivan, Matilda, Stepan, Marija & Mate. I have been told that Mate was quite young when both of his parents had died so he worked for farmers from the age of 12 and then was required to do his four year duty with the German Army at the age of 21. Milka's parents were Vinko POLIC and Marija SEPIC. Milka's sibblings were posibly Leo, Stanislav, Franjo, Kararina, Eduard and a sister Milka who died as an infant. I also have the names of Charlie & Dragutin. When I was young I recall something about grandfather first coming and working in the mines in Pittsburg.I also recall something about having family that went to Iowa, Washington, California and New Mexico. I have a note that grandfathers brother, Steve, may have been married to a Dragica, but I do not recall my mother mentioning her. I do have much history, thanks to John Stefanac, on the POLIC family. Would love current contacts. Grandparents Mate & Milka,Great-Aunt Donica and Great-great Uncle Steve are all buried in Ontonagon Catholic cemetary. Paul, Marion and my mother, Kathryn are also deceased. The 3rd & 4th generations of Mate & Milka KOSKOVICH family are now living in Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois & Alaska. I would love to hear of info you could add to my family history andwould love to find living relatives here in US and in Croatia.
