My name is Carole Donaldson of Queensland, Australia. I am researching the Newbald / Harrison family from Yorkshire, England.
George Harrison married Mary Newbald c1855 in Yorkshire. Mary was born c1834 in Bossall, Yorkshire to Mary & Robert Newbald. Mary had one brother Thomas and two sisters; Margaret & Ann.
George & Mary Harrison (nee Newbald) lived in Newton upon Derwent and had six children (one died as an infant). Mary died in 1868 and George mariied his housekeeper Ann Elizabeth Storry about 1871 and had four more children. Ann E Storry was born c1846 in Nafferton, Yorkshire.
Three of the children of George & Mary Harrison immigrated to New South Wales, Australia in the early 1880s (Mary, Matilda & Robert), leaving their sisters Annie & Emily Harrison in Yorkshire (they never married and died in Yorkshire - buried at Wilberfoss). George Harrison and his second family eventually moved to Sunderland. I am connected to the families of Mary & Matilda Harrison of Australia.
Mary Harrison (nee Newbald)'s sister Ann Newbald married William Kay (the parents of Sir Robert Newbald Kay).
I have heaps of information on Mary Harrison's descendants and some information on the descendants of Thomas Newbald and Ann Kay (nee Newbald) but would love to exchange information with you.
Ann Newbald (born c1842 in Bossall) & William Kay had five children; William A, Robert Newbald, Joseph H, Mary L & Margaret E.
Their brother Thomas Newbald born c1831 in Bossall - married Ellen (surname unknown) and had three children; Robert William Newbald, George Thomas Newbald & Sarah E Newbald.
Their sister Margaret Newbald born c1837 in Bossall possibly (?) married William Smith but I am not 100% sure. Can you confirm this?
On the 1851 Census I found Ann Newbold (sic), aged 9 years, visiting Elizabeth Hamby in St Saviour, York. Elizabeth was a widow aged 59 and born c1792 in York. Where does Elizabeth fit into the family?
