I probably can't tell you anything that you don't already know.Sion Key/Kea was the second son of Warren Key b.1784 (no one is sure where he was born) d. 1843 Adrian, Ga. (actually in Statesboro, Ga. on the way back from Brunswick, Ga., but he is buried in Adrian, Ga. at Kea/Key's Church Cemetery. Warren Key is listed on the 1810 Census as living in Darlington District, SC.He is also listed as having served in the War of 1812 in SC.Sion Key/Kea was born in Darlington, SC.
Recent YDna testing of men with the Key/Kea surname in the Warren Key line shows that they are of Danish Viking/Norman/Anglo-Saxon descent from a haplogroup which makes up only about 18-30% of the population in Great Britain (England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland), but is usually seen in its greatest concentration in Great Britain, Denmark, Sweden or Northern Holland. No one has yet to trace Warren Key/Kea's ancestor line definitively or his origins.A genetically related "Key" family from the British Caribbean/British St. Augustine, Fla./ the Bahamas are obviously of British origin, but where in Great Britain? One source says that their earliest ancestor sounded Scottish which may be likely since some of our closest YDna non "Key" surname matches are Scottish surnames.
