Hi, Lisa:
Alfred Decker Keator's book "Three Centuries of the Keator Family in America" lists five Emily Keator's, as follows:
(1) Emily Keator, b. 26 Jan. 1807, Rosendale, NY; married c. 1828 John L. Rosekrans; 3 children. She was the daughter of Jacob Nottingham Keator (1760 - 1838), who married his cousin Susanna Keator (b. 8 June 1766). Jacob was the son of Nicholas Keator (1728-1820) and Mary Nottingham; Nicholas was the son of Melgert Keator (1701-1793) and Deborah Kinney.
Jacob's wife Susanna was the daughter of John Keator (1737-1825), who married his first cousin Mary Keator (1740 - 1808). {This does get complicated!}. John was the son of Thomas Keator and Lea van Etten; Thomas was the son of Nicholas Melchertse Keator and Jane Vandermark, and the brother of the Melgert Keator mentioned above.
Mary (Mallie) Keator was the daughter of Melgert Keator & Deborah Kinney.
(2) Emily Caroline Keator, b. 1833 in Roxbury, NY; d. 8 May 1912 in Kingston, NY. Married Alfred Jenkins. She was the great-granddaughter of the John and Mary Keator mentioned above: John/Mary > Cornelius K & Elizabeth Krom >Isaac K & Esther White > Emily Caroline.
(3)Emily Dubois Keator, b. 29 Sept 1851 in New Paltz, NY, d. 9 Nov 1906. She was the great-great-granddaughter of the Thomas Keator mentioned in (1) above. Thomas > Peter > Moses > Dubois > Emily.
(4) Emily Eltinge Keator, b. 6 Aug. 1853 in Skaneatles, NY, d. March 1931 in Los Angeles. She was the granddaughter of Thomas Garrison Keator, who was the oldest brother of the Dubois Keator mentioned in (3).
(5) Emily Jane Keator, b. 1883 in Belvidere, Ill. Her grandfather, William J. Keator, was the brother of Emily (1). William moved his family to Broome County, Illinois, and is the ancestor of all the Illinois Keator's.
Hope this helps you some, even though it is all pretty confusing. Incidentally, Alfred's book lists eight different Hinckley's; I'm guessing that you are descended from one of them?
Let me know if I can help in any other way; you are welcome to e-mail me direct.
Michael.
