Hilary, I wish I could say YES to your questions but I can't say I have found anything but I do have a suggestion on where to go to next for you.I think the best route to go is DNA testing. To go that route one would have to have or be a DNA co-ordinator.The one I have been active with is on my Hinkel line and she does the Hinkle's of whatever spelling but I have worked with her before. She is Nedra Dickson Brill and took up the helm of keeping up with the Henckel's after the publication of of the Henckel Book many years ago.Nedra mainly is involved with the descendants of Rev. Anthony Jacob Henckel (from Hesse, now Germany) whose descendants came to America in 1717 from Hesse and mostly go by Hinkle today.DNA proved my Hinkel is not related to the Rev. Henckel's descendants and Nedra put my Hinkel in the Bulletin. My children are related to a son of Rev. Henckel however, and was mis-numbered in the book by the Junkin's and corrected by Nedra in a Bulletin by two of us in our branch. Today Nedra knows probably more about them here in America. She is also a certified genealogist, and was the Oregon DAR Parliamentarian.Nedra continued as the Editor of the twice annual Henckel Bulletin after its beginning 40 years ago. I mention all this because I think this task would be daunting but I don't know how else the DNA could be co-ordinated unless a particular person did it as she has done. She takes the Hinkle or variation DNA results that are available and connects them using the results to find which of the lines are related to others taking the test.I really do believe it is the way to go in todays genealogy research. Only the male who carries down the surname can take the test. Not the females. And it isn't terribly expensive, $150 and they send the ones doing it sends the kit, you take the test using only a swab and send it back in the provided envelope. You can pay for the test at that time but they won't run it until then. She recommends the 37 markers. You can go to the Hinkle or Hinkel this forum for more information that I have put on-line.Mildred Clark
