Kathye,
The census that you located from Warren County Missouri is the same Sintha Jane Keeling that married Messer. William Keeling is her father and Alice Martha Sweazey her mother, her grandmother Nancy Sweazey was living next door to them. Her uncle was living with them. William Keeling's father was Lewis M. Keeling born app. 1824 in Tennessee, mother Cynthia A. - Lewis' parents were Thomas Carlton Keeling born app. 1795 in Tennessee and Charlotte Smith born app. 1798 in N. C.
Sintha Jane Keeling was married three times, first marriage was to John Smoots in Greene County (Springfield) Missouri. The marriage ended when John was sent to prison for killing her father William Keeling. Sintha then married Charles Edward Messer in Springfield Missouri; Eventually moving to Oklahoma. Charles Edward Messer died in a mining accident in Cardin (Ottawa County) Oklahoma Feb. 14, 1919. Sintha and Lonnie Davis applied for a marriage license somewhere around 1920 in Sapulpa (Creek County) Oklahoma, but it was returned unused. Sintha and Lon did marry at a later date in Creek County. Sintha was living in Bristow (Creek County) Oklahoma when she died app. 1968.
Sintha and John never had any children that I could locate and never have heard the family speak of any. Charles Messer and Sintha had quite a few children, one of their sons William James Messer is my Great-Grandfather. Sintha and Lon had either two or three sons. A lot of the descendants of Charles and Sintha still are in or around Sapulpa and Bristow. Some of us are scattered out in the Oklahoma City area. William James Messer married Letha Cecile Starnes and had numerous children as well, One their children Mamie Helen Messer married Samuel Kendrick Wheeler thay had 5 children, Roger Dale Wheeler married Deborah Elaine Burger, they had me Sally Marie Wheeler and I have five children.I have information on the Keeling side back into the Balls and Washington's. my email address is [email protected] Thanks Sally Would love to share info with you.
