debrasorry its taken me so long to reply. been tied up in vbs and just now checking messages.the names you were interested in: Joseph, Mandus and clyde Keiperin the book I have by faye bohaning dated l983 gives the family name spelling as Kiper, which was how my grandfather spelled his last name, though i'm told the correct spelling was in deed Keiperas to the names you sent There is nothing in the book on Mandus or Clyde, ;however there is mention of a Joseph , though he may not be old enough for what you are looking at;the info follows:Joseph Michael,jr. no b. or d. dates given; a brother, Jeffery Wayne, children of Michael & Linda Chandler Kiper.Michael sr. b. Mar.29,l859 Grayson Co. age 75Both buried at the Sam Hamilton farm on Rough Creek, later known as the Albert Beauchamp farm and was near the old Beauchamp Bridge across Rough Creek,near Falls of Rough ,Ky.Near the dam and State Park.It was nearer the Lone Star School House and the Old Lone Star Church.The Goldlen Jubilee Volume of the Register of Kentucky Historical Society, states that Eliz.Quick Kiper was the dau. of Andrew & B. Quick, vol.50 #l7l Apr.l952The Quicks are found in; adjoining county or townhip to Northampton Co, & Allentownship,Pa. in l783.Eliz. came to Ky. with her parents from Pa.Jacob Kiper, a son of Fredrick& Eliz., was a volunteer for service from Shepardsville, Ky. & served from Aug.25,l8ll3-Nov.8,ll8ll3,under Gen. Wm.Harrison & took part in Battle of the Thames in upper Canada.When Rough River Lake & Reservoir was formed in l958/59 the graves and stones were moved to the Eskridge Cem. (Robinson Cem.) in Grayson Co. near the State Park and the stones were broken, but all the markers in their new resting places.Jacob & Eliz. had l0 children and two of them were not known to Ms. Bohaning when she compiled her book.Fredrick Kiper,no dates given, m Elizabeth, no dates, no maiden namestarted to Ky. from Virginia , he was massaacured by Indians & she was scalped but survived and she & her sons came on to Ky.Fredrick was in the service as a Pvt. in Capt. O'Hara's Co.They had 3 sons and mayabe others that Ms. Bohaning says she's been unable to find a connection to.The three known are Henry, believed to be the eldest, Fred and Jacob.Elizabeth later m. a 2nd time to a Mr. Johnson and J.P.McClures papers states that this widow Kiper & Johnson had a son who was "Old Uncle Bib Jim Johnson" who was b. May 3, l8l5.He would be l/2 brother to Henry, FredrickJacob.Some info that is known: a Jacob Kipiper/Kiper of Germany landed in Phila. Pa. aboard the ship Francis & Ann,with Capt.Snow.He qualified by Thos. Coatam through customs on May 30,l74l.He was accompanied by Johanas (pg.292 Strassburger & Hinkle's Penn German Pioneers)Jacob Kiper of Germany went to Allen Twp.Pa. and he and wife, were listed in the l790 Northampton Co, Census.I'm sorry this is all the info I have but I hope maybe it is of some help .Like Ms. Bohaning I too have found it difficult finding family connections but with computers today research is made a little easier.We may all be related to the Ky. Kipers way back but I believe the biggest help you'll find in this material I', sending is in the oldest one or two generations.Good luck on your research and I'd be very glad to hear from you if you do find that connection.Donna
