The spelling being changed to Kier. My grandmother is a Keir and she was born in Shotts Lanarkshire Scotland. There are still Keir's there. There are also alot of Keirs in Ayrshire Scotland.I am decended from James Keir and Janet Wheelan. They were married in Bothwell, Lanarkshire, Scotland Have some more information of the families and also there is a great site for Shott's online.Go to Google and type in "Shotts Lanarkshire Scotland"It will take you there and you will be able to ask Keir questions. There are also two or three branches that went to Australia under the name Kerr.Kaye
