Re: Keith Family of Wake County, N.C.
Possibly you know that record of Wesley KEITH marriage to Gilley JACKSON is in Granville County, NC...same county of several other related KEITHs. That one is the only KEITH/JACKSON marriage I know about in the state of NC, but there are many more unions between folks of the two surnames. Here are some just in the NC region:
NORTH CAROLINA: Marvin Gray keith (b. 10 Jul 1933) m. 30 Nov 1951 to Eunice Jean JACKSON,
Lee Vada KEITH (26 Aug 1880, Wake Co., NC) m. 1st 7 May 1907 to Mettie Minor JACKSON,
Ida Grey KEITH (b. 10 Dec 1884) m. 14 Feb 1910 to James Dickson JACKSON; d. 17 Mar 1960, Wilmington, NC,
TENNESSEE: James KEITH m. 27 Apr 1878 to Margaret JACKSON (IGI), William KEITH m. 19 Mar 1880 to Eliza JACKSON (IGI), Byas KEITH m. 13 Sep 1883 to Darthoula JACKSON (IGI), Edward L. KEITH m. 18 Jan 1894 Maggie B. JACKSON (W. A. KEITH bond),
ALABAMA: Cleton JACKSON m. 24 Nov 1853 to Sarah A. KEITH.
GEORGIA: Mary KEITH m. 10 Jul 1869 to John JACKSON, Samuel O. KEITH m. 5 Feb 1899 to Alice M. JACKSON, Mollie KEITH m. 19 Jan 1881 to Larken JACKSON.
Earliest mention I have of a KEITH/JACKSON connect is this notation:
"Colonial South Carolina was home to several KEITH families in the early 1700’s. It would seem that many descendants might spring from this source, yet our collective knowledge of these families is severely limited. Walter KEITH was witness to the will of Richard JACKSON, Jr. of Charleston, 6 Nov 1728."
