Your Samuel Kemp who m. Lucy Sluman is most likely the Samuel born 8 Dec 1784 in Groton, Mass., son of Samuel and Elizabeth (Kezar) Kemp. I have been researching the New England Kemp's for over 25 years. Where primary and/or factual data is not available, I've pursued every avenue possible to develop all likely scenarios. This is one of those cases. There were several Groton Kemp's who ended up in seafaring trades and moved to Salem, Marblehead, Lynn, and as far north as Harpswell, Maine. I have much more information on the Kemp's if you are interested.
