Re: Joseph Kempinski, died in 1950s, Chicago
I am new to this geneoloy research thing so bear with me.Don't know if there is any connection here but I thought I'd give it a try because I can't come up with anything else.
My grandfather, now deceased was named Walter Kempinski. He was born in February of 1910.Not even sure of his birthdate since he said the records burned. So we celebrated it on Feb. 14th aways.Since I say Joseph was from Chicago, that is why I wrote. My grandfather lived most of his life in Calumet City, Il.,close to Chicago.I am also writing because the only subject he was ever closed-mouth about was his Father.Said he ran out on him and his Mother. Not sure what his father's first name was even.I thought it was Walter. And, supposedly his father had another boy, my grandpa's half-brother, and also named him Walter. To my knowledge, my grandpa never found his father or half-brother.He was a great man that passed away in 1997.I miss him lots. But I always wonder what kind of bad thing happened in his past to make him never talk about it.
Oh, also, his mother's name was Ludwika Szcerbowski.I think that is her maiden name and on no documents had she ever signed "Ludwika Kempinski".
Sorry to ramble but I am so puzzled by this and am coming up with nothing.
