Re: Moses Kendall-Bro. & Sons to NC-1780's +/-
James, your information on Thornton being in NC by 1821 is very consistant with the information I have shown in the previous message. I find him "in the census" first in 1830, and with no Montgomery Census for 1820, he could have been there as early as after the 1810 census.
You have some good information here, and I am wondering if the Samuel Kendall who married Henrietta Day was the Samuel who was in Montgomery in 1790-1810, or if he was the son of Moses who stayed in VA. I am thinking the Samuel in Montgomery early was son of William, brother of Moses.
I have some of Moses sons as James, John, George and Thornton. Note James and Thornton are two different people. Since your GG GF was James Thornton, I'm thinking he was more likely son of Samuel, son of William, brother to Moses. I can't prove that, but you see my reasoning in the previous message.
Does the 1821 Essex Executor Bond shed any light on any of these relationships?
Finally, was James Thornton in NC or VA?
Good to hear from you. Ed
