Re: Obediah Kendrick, 1801, GA
Thanks for your response.Yes, I do have a road block.I have gotten as far back as my gggrandmother, Eugene A. Kindrick Allen, but I can't seem to find anything to show where she came from.In the 1880 census She is a dressmaker living in Atlanta, probably widowed, with 12yr old daughter Lena.
I have received copies of death certificates for both Lena and her mother.Lena Allen's death cert. shows FATHER Eugene A. Allen, which I know is wrong. (The female named Eugene seems to confuse alot of people)For Mother they list Augusta Kindrick.I'm guessing perhaps the middle initial may be for Augusta in Eugene A. Kindrick.
Eugene A. Kindrick Allen's death Cert shows father R.S. Kindrick but no listing for mother. There is also some question as to whether she was born in GA or AL.(All the census info shows GA but the death cert says AL.
There is an 1890 Atlanta directory that shows Eugene A. Allen, dressmaker, widow to Cullen. But the year prior shows Helen Allen widow to Eugene A.
Eugene's birth date could be anywhere from 1845 to 1851.Death Cert shows 1845, but 1880 census shows 1851.Subsequent census data shows her birth year going back farther each time until 1910 shows her at 1846.(She died in 1919)
So as you can see I get little pieces of info, but nothing that leads really anywhere. Thanks, again.Michelle
