I am looking for information about my Great-Grandmother Catherine/Catharine/Katherine Kenneally, supposedly born c. 1857 in Dubuque, Iowa, according to my aunt. She married Peter McDermott (born c. 1854) Nov 22, 1878, in Dubuque. He died Jun 4, 1901 in Dubuque. She died c. 1923-25, also in Dubuque. They had 3 children, my grandfather Francis (Frank) Peter, b 1879-81, Edward C., and Mame. Edward C. married Ida Gantenbein, and had 2 children, Louis and Olive. Mame married Howard Abbott, but had no children. Frank married Mary Loretta Van Wie, and had 3 children, my father Robert Francis b 1921, Howard J., and Ione Mary. I have only been able to find one household in the 1880 census that looks possible: Peter McDermott b 1854 and Catherine born 1857, residing in Dubuque in 1880. No children in 1880, which seems reasonable considering my Peter/Catherine's marriage date. In 1885 2 other researchers found them in Dubuque, with stated birthplace for both of Jackson, Iowa. There are 2 children listed, Edward 1, and "Frances Callahan" 6 (boy) who is the right age to be my grandfather Francis Peter. Katherine appears again in the 1900 census, with Peter and all 3 children as well as an Aunt, Katherine Plant. Katharine also appears in 1910, with Frank P. and Mary Ann A., and in 1920, with Frank and Mayme. Edward has presumably left home. He reappears in the 1920 census, with Peter McDermott and Catherine Kenneally listed as his parents. Another researcher has suggested that Catherine might be part of the Kennelly family of the 1856 Jones Co (Washington Township)census. This Catherine is listed as 3 so would have been born c. 1853. I have located no other Catherine Kenneally/Kennellys of the right age in Dubuque, Jones or Jackson. In fact, no Kenneally or McDermott families in Jackson Co or Jackson Township of Jones Co at all. I would love any info at all about my Catherine's family, or enough info to either confirm or eliminate the Jones Co family as hers. Thanks in advance.
