GREENBRIER INDEPENDENT NEWSPAPER FRIDAY, APRIL 6,1923
On last Sunday morning, the 1st inst., when a blaze started in the roof of the M.E. Church, south of Frankford, this county, Esty C. Kershner, of that place climed a ladder to aid in extinguishing the flames and on reaching the top he fell to the ground dead. Physicians who examined the body expressed an opinion that Mr. Kershner was stricken as a result of heart trouble of which he had for some years been a sufferer. In the fall from the roof of the building his neck was broken. Mr. Kershner was a carpenter by trade and it was said of him that he was an excellent one and a high class workman. The accident occured about 9:30 Sunday morning. Mr. Kershner is survived by his widow(Susan Legg Kershner) and the following children: Mrs. Pearl Bowling, Omar; Pleasant Kershner, Akron, Ohio; and the misses May, Evelyn, Ethelyn, Creigh, and John, all of Frankford.
