Hi, Cynthia, Well I had hoped some of the info would have helped you and maybe it will later on. I can tell you that not everyone in those days was interested in being part of the census and may have avoided the census taker for one reason or the other. I think and don't take this the wrong way, but WV was a difficult place to get everyone to participate along with several other states. It was just their nature to be suspicious of Government.
Anyway, the Obit on your Kershners was interesting and too bad they didn't list the brothers and sisters, that would have helped I am sure. Hard to believe that he could have grown up in Frankfort and dropped off the face of the earth on you.
Just South of Frnkfort there is a big church with a cemetary in back. I did not have time to stop there this trip, but next time I go there I will drop by and see who is buried there. That Church today is a Pres. Church I think and I did not catch the name when I drove by. There are several other cemetaries in the area and if you can find a list of them you could call and they should have a aphabetical listing of who is buried there and the plot location (most cemetaries have this if they are still active otherwise it is on file somewhere).
I had not been to Frankfort since 1957 or 1958 and it was funny that I remembered right where everything was. I know I have relatives in the area (couple of cousins), but I don't have their married names or any contact info. I also was plesantly surprised to find recent flowers (silk) on all the graves, my Great Grandmother, my Grandfather and my Great Aunt, so someone is nearby. I went and added some flowers and left a note with my contact info. Maybe I will hear from someone soon. My Great Aunt was the family historian and I am sure there are some records going back a long way. Hopefully someone has those records and maybe we can end up finding out more information shortly.
I will probably go back again in the spring, it's a long way from Cailfornia, but my Mother is in a nursing home in Norfolk and I get back there every month. It's a 5 hour drive from Norfolk.
OK good luck in you search and If I hear anymore I will let you know.
