Wales, own 170 A.He was b. 15 Jan, 1820 in Washington County, Md; and came to Ogle Co. in 1851, and settled in Maryland Twp. He followed the occupation of miller for 15 years, working in the "Fossler Mill". In 1866, he bought the farm he now lives on...He married 9 Nov. 1850 Sophia A. b. 11 Oct 1834, dau. of George Bressler of Monroe Twp., Ogle Co. They had 5 children."

Quoted from Vol. III, "The Kershner Families of Maryland 1731-1977", Mary Kershner Maxwell and Ruth Bownds Kershner, page 331 -- "Elias Kershner, born 6/30/1773, son of George [Kershner], Sr. b 1731 and Mary (Flenner) Kershner. They had two sons: Josiah b 2/5/1801and Elias b 4/8/1803, their mother was Catherine Watchel [Wachtel]. Elias b 1803 and his wife Sarah were the parents of John Silas Kershner b 1/15/1830 in Hagerstown, Maryland. John Silas Kershner married Sophia Ann Bressler on 11/9/1951 . John Silas was bound to a "Miller" at age 21 and moved to Leaf River, Illinois with his wife and father-in-law, George Bressler. The following children were born in Illinois: Arabella (Belle) b 8/21/1835  m John Wakenight Charles b. 12/11/1857 m Alma Donner 1 daughter Eva. Sarah M. (Sadie) b 5/20/1860 m Jacob Wakenight (bro of John) Mary (E) died as infant George Edward b 6/27/1868 m Emma Rashe d 1945 (Martha) Elizabeth b 9/16/1866 m Millard Isler
George Edward was a carpenter, photographer, cabinet and violin maker. In 1891 he married Emma Rashe. The following children were born in Leaf River, Illinois: 1. Dolphy b. 9/5/1892 2. Dale Gifford b. 11/27/1894 m., Lillian King d. 6/27/1920 Dale and Lillian had one son, Dale Lee, who now resides at 1943 Roanoke, Wichita, Kansas 67218. Dale Lee's sons: Gary Lee and Ricky Dale -- Gary Lee died 1970. 3. Ruth b. 8/29/1896 m. Carl Smith 4. Lelia b. 3/25/1905 m. Obert Dillis Crocker [Lelia Crocker resided 1981 at Lake Rd. 9, Box 213, R 2, Gardner, KS 66030.]
