Re: Kerstein Family Origins
Hello Cousin Bob!

It's been quite a few years now since we found each other through this forum and then lost touch.
I recently was searching a German-Polish site and, drawing on your information, think I may have identified the locations of the towns that J.G.Kerstein and his wife Maria came from.
Borken (known today in Polish as Borki) and Erdmannen (known as Ciesina) are about 40 kilometers apart, in the province of Warminsko-Mazurskie (Kreis/County: Johannisburg, Ostpreussen).
Borken/Borki +53° 34' 12.00", +21° 51' 0.00"
Erdmannen/Ciesina +53° 31' 12.00", +21° 30' 0.00"
I was wondering if you have any ideas of an alternate spelling for the Marqfast surname? Or more information (ship logs etc.) on their immigration to the U.S.?
Also, has anyone else in the Kerstein/Kerstien/Kersten clan caught the genealogy bug and started doing research?
Hope you are well,
