Hello Richard -
I hope you're still monitoring this board...
I was intrigued by your message looking for info on the Kesner line. The names Kesner, Levie, Staal, Cohen, etc., all appear in my family's genealogy as well, and I wonder if there may be a connection...
My aunt (my father's oldest sister) was Eva DeKorte; she married Isaac Leon Kesner in Boston in 1897.I believe Isaac Kesner died in Somerville, Massachusetts, sometime before 1940 or so, as he appears with my aunt Eva in the 1930 Census (along with their daughter Sadie R., b. about 1899 in Illinois), but in a circa 1940 Somerville directory, Eva is listed with Sadie only.I've not found death records on my aunt, and have no idea if Sadie ever married.I believe my father was close to Sadie at one time...
I believe Isaac Kesner's father was Leon Kesner, and his mother was Julia Corper.
My father was Coleman Joel DeKorte, b. 1895 in Everett, MA, youngest of eight children of David DeKorte and Adelaide Corper.Eva DeKorte was the oldest of the eight children, and was born in the 1870s in New York City.Interestingly, it appears the daughter of Adelaide Corper [Eva] married the son of Adelaide's sister Julia [Isaac Kesner].
At any rate, I have a bit of info on the Kesner segment of my family, and would be happy to share if it sounds like there is a connection. Please email me directly at [email protected].
BTW, there is a very useful web site that might be of interest to you - http://moron19.com/http://moron19.com/Click on the Stodel link, and then on "K" - you will see a number of Kesners referenced...
Hope to hear from you.
