Mrs. Shirley Kessels Dies, Rites Today
Mrs. Shirley K. Kessels, 42, Martinsburg, died at 4:10 p.m. Saturday at the Audrain Medical Center where she had been a patient for a week.
Funeral services were held today at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Martinsburg with the Rev. John Walsh officiating and burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery.Pallbearers were Steve Welschmeyer, Lester Arens, Glen Wehmeyer, Dennis Fennewald, John Fennewald andKevin Schafer.
Born in St. Louis on Aug. 18, 1933, she was the daughter of Samuel E. and Clara Mincemeyer Manion.She had lived in Union until she and her mother, Mrs. Clara Manion, moved to Martinsburg in May.Mrs. Kessels has been employed at Wolff's Shoe Factory in Union.
Survivors are her mother of the home; two brothers, Elmer Manion and James Manion of St. Louis; four sisters, Mrs. Theophane (Eunice) Fennewald of Martinsburg; Mrs. VirginiaGoetz of San Francisco, Calif.; Mrs. Eileen Ruedlinger of Indianapolis, Ind., and Mrs. Dorothy Damm of Billings, Mont.
The Rosary was said on Sunday at the Arnold Funeral Home in Martinsburg by Father Walsh.
