George KIDMAN - Old Tintinallogy, NSW
does anyone out there have any information on a George KIDMAN who held the publican's license for the Old Tintinallogy Hotel from 1876 to 1878.
I am presently researching the ROGERS family of Old Tintinallogy, NSW.Old Tintinallogy was a small settlement on the east bank of the Darling River about 25 miles north of Menindee), formed on a selection from the Tintinallogy station. My GtGtGtGandfather William Thompson ROGERS built the pub in 1867 and held the license from 1868-1875.He drowned in 1876.William's wife Elizabeth held the licence in 1879, but she died in 1880. (Both were only in their late 40s) The pub does not appear to have been licensed till 1888 when son-in-law Henry GEYER took up the license.
It has been suggested to me that this George may be the brother of Sidney KIDMAN, the Cattle King. That George was certainly in the area, but I have only been able to find snippets of biographical information on him.Any details would therefore be much appreciated.
