Re: kieckhefer family history
Hello Guy and others.
There are numerous spellings to check and I suspect they are all related. So far I have seen Kieckhefer, Kiekhefer (my line), Kiekhaefer, Kieckhaefer, Kieckhoefer and Kiekefer and I've probably missed some.
The ones of particular interest to me are from Wisconsin, particularly New Berlin although the Milwaukee branch is probably related. They seem to have arrived 1858-1885 in groups, all from the same area in Prussia.Family lore is that they were fleeing opression from the Russians and as soon as they could save enough for passage, would leave.
My line starts with Herman Kiekhefer who arrives abt 1874.
Herman Kiekhefer b June 1839 Prussiad 1910-1920 Wisconsin
Amelia (wife)d bef 1900
Henrietta b abt 1862 Prussia
William b June 1864 Prussia
Albert b abt 1869 Prussia
Ida (?) b abt 1876 New Berlin, Wisconsin
Laura (?) B abt 1876 New Berlin, Wisconsin
Herman b Sept 1877 New Berlin, Wisconsin
Amelia b abt Jan 1880 New Berlin, Wisconsin
Frederick A, b 1882 New Berlin, Wisconsin
Arthur b 26 Jan 1884 New Berlin, Wisconsin
I am not quite sure of the twin girls names, they were taken from the 1900 Census and are hard to read.
Hope to hook up with my distant cousins.
