Marcus Kiker, 66, of Vine Street, Mosheim, TN, a widely
known retired local businessman, died Saturday morning,
January 16, 2010, at his home. He was born June 16, 1943,
Greeneville, Greene Co TN.
He attended Mount Carmel United Methodist Church in
Mosheim for as long as his health permitted.
Mr. Kiker, along with his wife, owned and operated Kiker's
Tire Store and Wrecker Service, Kiker's Tobacco Outlet,
and Kiker's Florist, until declining health forced him to
retire in 2006.
He was an Army veteran.
His family provided the following statement: 'He took
pride in telling people about his kidney transplant and
recovery at Vanderbilt Medical Center in February of 1987
and the special relationship with the physician who
performed his open heart surgery six weeks later, Dr. Bill
Frist, former U.S. Senator.'
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Nellie
Kiker.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Kiker; his children and
their spouses, Brad and Nekia Kiker, Rodney Kiker,
Chastity Bright, and Keema and Dallas Seip, all of Greene
Co TN; his grandchildren, Briggs Kiker, Katie Kiker, Haley
Carter, and Riley Kiker, all of Greene Co TN; two sisters
and one brother-in-law, Annette Jones, and Paulette and
Eddie Ottinger, all of Greene Co TN; one brother, Carroll
Kiker of Greene Co TN; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-
law, Dillard and Nancy Jones of the St. Clair Community,
and Bobby and Liz Jones, Doyle and Patsy Jones, Ann Jones,
Shelby Jones, and Shirley Jones, all of Greene Co TN; a
special niece, Tammy Jones; a special nephew, Gary Jones;
and a special great-niece, Anna Brooke Malone, all of
Greene Co TN; several other nieces and nephews; his special
friends, Ray McMahan, Billy and Frankie Grooms, Kaye and
Charlotte Tweed, Bobby and Mimi Nease, Bud and Bonnie
Vaughn, Harvey and Ivorine Collins, Frank and Terri Waddell,
Paulette Bright, Janice Burger, Helen Brown, Geneva
Brotherton, and all his buddies at the Rook House.
The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. - 8 p.m.,
Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home
preceding the service at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
The family will also receive friends at the family residence.
The Rev. Richard Long, the Rev. Charles Heck, the Rev.
Buster Shelton, and the Rev. Danny Ricker will officiate.
Interment will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 20, 2010,
at Love's Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends are asked
to meet at 10 a.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home to go
in procession to the cemetery for the committal service.
Pallbearers will be Bob Percell, Billy Grooms, Rusty
Ottinger, Marty Ottinger, David Brooks, and Steve Malone.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Martin Tran, his nurses
and caregivers, his friends at the Rook House, his former
employees and customers, and the congregation of Mount
Carmel UM Church.
