CHEROKEE ADAIRS, Adair Family, ARC Press of Cane Hill, Lincoln, AR, 2003
p. 3 John ADAIR, #1, “was born Abt. 1753 in Ireland, and died December 08, 1815 in Cane Creek, Pendleton Dist., SC.He married (1) Gahoga Lightfoot Abt. 1779.She was born Abt. 1755, and died Abt. 1789 in near present Rome, GA.He married (2) Jean Kilgore Abt. 1790 in South Carolina. She was born Abt. 1770, and died Abt. 1830.” John ADAIR and Jennie KILGORE had 11 children.“Jean or Jennie Kilgore was not Cherokee.”
p. 1 “John Adair provided support for the American revolution. He was a trader and a planter. His grandson John Thompson Adair wrote a family history in which he stated that his grandfather John and brother Edward were born in Antrim County, Ireland. In the 1880 U. S. Census for Murray County, Georgia, John’s son Charles Duncan Adair, age 77, gives his father’s birthplace as being Ireland and his mother Jean’s birthplace as South Carolina.”
Separate sources list Jennie/Jean Kilgore as being born in either AL, or SC.I'm going back through info to sort out errors and verify information.Much of the family information is not documented so it is easy for errors to creep in...
