Fantastic work, keep it up, you are starting to solve the puzzle that has alluded me all year.
What I've got so far is this:-
Thomas Kilvert married Ellen Walley on 15.8.1805 at Manchester Cathedral, England and had two sons:- -Thomas Kilvert(b.?- Manchester, England). -Samuel Whalley Kilvert(bap.7 Jan 1810 -Manchester England).
Approx.1820's the family migrated to the USA.
Thomas Kilvert Jnr. married Roby Searle on 29.6.1835 at Providence, Rhode Island.
I think they had a son William H. Kilvert(b.1838)(d.1902). He was in the furniture trade and came up in the Boston census 1860 and Maine census 1870.
I think he had a son Thomas(b.c1862) who married Elizabeth A. c.1884 and they could have had a child Jessie(b.1890)
Your confirmation that WHK was the father of Maxwell A. Kilvert is great news.
BUT ALSO I believe that there was another William H. Kilvert in the USA around that time. I have found a WHK born in the UK in 1842 who appeared in the 1880 USA census stating that he was 38 year of age, unmarried, and had the occupation of a Note Broker.
There is also another "ring-in"named Thomas Kilvert, born in Manchester UK in 1850. He married a Nellie Keene, in the USA in 1870 and had 3 children:- -Charles Kilvert(b.1874 - New York) -Bessie Keene Kilvert(b. ? - New York)(m)Benjamin Lewis Blauvelt. -Nellie Beatrice Kilvert(b. ?)
Thomas was a lawyer and a New York census had his business address down as 154 Nassau St. New York.
I don't know any more info. on this side of the family.
The SAMUEL WHALLY KILVERT(1810-1883) side of the family is this:-
SWK married Mary Albertson in mid 1830. She was born in 1809 and died on 29.12.1897. She is buried at a Rhode Is. cemetary at Providence.
They had at least one child:- Samuel W. Kilvert(b.1836/7) at Ross Ohio. He married Elizabeth Dun 15 Jan 1867(she was born in 1842 and died 5 Apr. 1908) and is buried in a Rhode Is. cemetary). They lived at Chillicothe, Ohio for a period, but I think moved back to the east coast. Elizabeth was part of the "Dun and Bradstreet", Dun's family.
SWK's father Thomas appears to have been a principal in the formation of the Rhode Island Malleable Iron Co. whick is located in Warwick Rhode Island. The street in which the company was located was, and still is called Kilvert Street.
SWK and Elizabeth had 5 children:- -Walter Dun Kilvert(b.30.11.1875)(m)Florence Starks) -Mary Albertson Kilvert(never married. Died at Chillicothe 1954). -Joan Kilvert(b.20.1.1879). -Grahame Kilvert. -Charles Alexander Kilvert(b.1874)(m)Anne Francis Abbott).
