If William Kimmel was born in Philo, Ohio, he is a descendant of Killian & Nercilla Kimmel who came to Muskingum County, Ohio from Bavaria in the late 1830's.Their children, per the censuses, were:Many (Emanuel), Catherine, John K., Eve, Julia and Mary.Since William is John K's nephew, there are three possiblities:
1.)Many (Emanuel) is the father. The only reference to Many is his presence in Zanesville in the 1850 census.Nothing after that.Died?Moved away?
2.)Or, one of the daughters had William out-of-wedlock.No evidence found to support this.
3.)Or, Mary, the youngest daughter, is the mother. She married Jonathan Hall and, in the 1870 census, the couple is living with her parents in Taylorville (now Philo). With them were two sons Willie, age 5, and Louis, age 3.I haven't been able to locate the Halls after that. It's possible "Willie" took on the Kimmel name for some reason.
Some court house record in Zanesville might have the answer.
William and Rose moved to Columbus.Their son Carl John did, too. They were in the carpentry trade.Fred Leonard stayed back in Philo and worked for the electric company.I don't know about the daughters.
