Edmund King Parents Revisited - Any Resolution?

Back in 2001 there was a lengthy discussion in this forum about who were the parents of the Edmund King, born about 1740 (or 1743) in Halifax County, VA and died in Franklin County, GA in 1817.

I reviewed an index of several hundred genealogies at Ancestry.com. About two-thirds had Edmunds's parents as William (Valentine) King and Elizabeth Edwards. About a third had Robert King and Mary Cason.

Has anyone resolved this issue, or come to some conclusions as to who are the correct parents?

Also, related to this are Edmund's three wives. In which order did they come, and which children are from each marriage?
