I don't know if this will help any, but John Gamery Kirby
posted a marriage bond with Cecilia Claggett 30 June 1824.

She was the daughter of Dr. Samuel Claggett (1756 - 1820)and Amie Jane Ramey (c1768 - 1847).Samuel Claggett was a Rev. War vet (Amie got a pension) and his uncle, (Dr. Gustavus Brown)under whom he had trained, was one of George Washington's doctors.There's a lot out there about the Claggetts, Ramey and Browns, with relations to the Fowkes, Thoroughgoods, etc.

I don't know much about the Kirbys (I'm descended from Cecilia's brother Samuel) but I'd bet that name Gamery is possibly a mother's or grandmother's maiden name.
