Hi Christie
I have also been trying to sort through the KIRBY line in Halifax Co. I do have one question please-- You show that Richard Kirby II married a Sarah ANDERSON who was d/o Richard ANDERSON and an unknown ECHOLS. How do you know that Sarah was the niece of Judith Echols? I agree that Richard's wife was named Sarah when he died 1781 and also that Joseph was a son of Judith Echols and Richard and that Judith was d/o William Echols. The Hinshaw's VA Vol does show " 1768, 6, 18. Richard Jr. Bannister Mtg, dis mcd (m his first w's sister's dt)". BUT I had not made a connection of this Sarah to a Richard Anderson and an Echols? There are at least 2 or 3 Richard Kirby's about that time so I've been "stumbling" trying to verify which one is which.
Any sources you can provide are much appreciated.
Thanks
Pat Gilbert
