Here's some of what I have on the Kirks.
James Kirk who died in SC about 1799 or 1800 had a son named John and a daughter named Sarah. It appears that both stayed in SC.
John Kirk, son of James, had a son named James (with whom you use the middle initial "S"). We have found no records that James had siblings.
That James Kirk (I don't know about the "S") married Levicy (also spelled Levisa and Levisia).
Your James S. Kirk had Bluford, Cornelia, James, Sarah,
Elizabeth, John Washington (1827-1881), Thomas Jefferson (1828-1871) and William (about 1832-1862). The first 5 may have stayed in SC while John, Thomas and William settled in
the Scotland community of Yazoo County, Mississippi.
John Washington Kirk had 10 children and it appears that all
but maybe one died in Yazoo County.
His brother, Thomas Jefferson Kirk, had 5 children and at least 4 died in Yazoo County.
William Kirk, probably the youngest of the 10, died in Richmond during the war. I do not know the cause. His first
wife was Louisa W. Martin, who died giving birth and was
buried holding the child. The second wife was Martha Luckey
(or Tucker) whom you had mentioned.
The Kirks, and their cousins, have populated the south end
of Yazoo County. There must be several hundred of them now.
I have some more information on descendants and on cousins
if you want it.
