M. B. Kirk (Matthew Biggart Kirk) b. 22 Jan 1824 in Clarke Co., AL, son of James Johnston Kirk and Jane Walker. He married Hulda D. R. Jones about 1847 in Mississippi. They had nine children: William J., Lenora Elizabeth, John M., Robert Singleton, Edward S., Matthew L., Mary Jane Grace, Carolinas Boyd, F. M. "Debora".Hulda died 2 May 1871 in Newton Co., MS.
Matthew followed his daugther Lenora and husband to Texas. All of the children, some grown by then also went to Texas and most settled in the Hopkins County area but Lenora, John, Robert moved on to central Texas or Oklahoma after Matthew's death on 2 Sept 1879.
Matthew had married the sister of Lenora's husband, Mary Vilena Evans in June 1872 and she died in July 1872. He then married Sarah Ann Elder Hart Jeter about 1874. I haven't found the marriage record. They had 3 children: George Washington, Cora Beatrice, Mildred Gertrude. All of the as well as Sarah moved on to OK after Matthew's death in Sept 1879 in Hopkins Co.I don't know when Sara moved to Ok but think it was after her next husband, Love Simpson had died. They also had one child and she'd had one daughter by James Jeter, I think. May have been ? Hart. That daughter married Matthew's son, Robert Singleton Kirk.
