Re: Kirk Family in Oklahoma

I'm a Kirk from Southeast corner of Kansas (Pittsburg) and am curious what you have on Kansas Kirk's.My grandfather was Ira Kirk, brother of Elmer Kirk, sons of John R. Kirk. Ira lived from around 1910-1918 in Vinita and Grove, OK.Elmer lived in Grove, married a Katherine and had a son LaDell.Though the Ira branch moved to Pittsburg, the Elmer/LaDell branch, is, I believe, still in Okalahoma.Ira and Elmer were born in Palmyra, MO in the 1880's.Their mother's name was Martha Vincent.Both the Vincents and the Kirks were originally from Illinois. I have been able to trace the Vincents, but not the Kirks prior to John R., who was born in December 1857, and who said he was from Illinois. Any help linking John R. (we believe the R. is for Richard) to any Illinois Kirk's would be MUCH appreciated. BTW, Ira Kirk had 7 sons, so back in the 1930's to 1960's there were LOTS of Kirks in SE Kansas.
