Kirtons in South Carolina 1800's
My 3ggrandfather was David Hallman b. ca 1816 in Lexington County SC.He is widely reported to have married Annis or Annice Kirton b. ca 1814. The marriage probably occurred about 1832.The maiden name of Annis comes from the death certificate of one of their children, Samuel T. Hallman from Spartanburg who died in 1927.The informant indicated that Samuel's father was David Hallman and mother Anis Kirton.Another child's death record shows a last name for Annis of Lewie (there were Lewies in Lexington at the right time).I have not found any Kirtons in Lexington County SC at any time from the 1820s on through the 1860s.I found many Kirtons in Georgetown, Williamsburg and Marion Counties but it does not look like they migrated west to Lexington.
Is there anyone with information about any Kirtons being in Lexington County SC?Annis Kirton said in 1850 that she was born in SC butin 1860 and 1880 she indicates she was born in NC and so were her parents. Were there Kirtons in North Carolina before moving into South Carolina?
Thanks for any help.
